# Fractions

Using the Match Learner game of pairs children can practice fractions and their different representations. Developed for children age 9 and up.

This box contains 80 tiles with different fractions. To find a match one has to find another tile showing the same number, for example 1/2 and 2/4.

In addition to the representation with number this set contains other visualizations to strengthen the meaning of these fractions:

### Game Varieties

There are two ways to play the game using the Fraction tiles:

Variety 1: Match

How many Matches can you get? Place all tiles face-up on a table. All players start collecting Matches at the same time. The player with the most Matches in the end wins.

This game advances mathematical skills as well as memory building.

Variety 2: QuickBrain (3+ players)

One of the players is chosen as reader. The reader selects one tile at random and reads out the arithmetic problem. All the other players try to find the correct answer. Whoever says the right result out loud first is the winner of this round. The role of reader moves on.

Special Advice: The Fraction Set also contains improper fractions. To get an easier game remove these tiles.

To create a more complex game combine Match Learner Fractions with other Match Learner Sets for Decimals and Percentages. Mixing all tiles gives more ways to create the same number and shows the connection between the different concepts of representation.

Contents: 80 Memory tiles (gives 40 pairs) and instructions in English.
